VerveEarth - blogs on a map

I got a mail from Clayton today. You're probably wondering - who is Clayton? And to be honest, I don't know. But Calyton is part of a new project called VerveEarth. He invited me to be one of the first on this new VerveEarth thing. So thats what I did.

I suspect (without having done any research on it) that this is a GoogleEarth mash-up. It does look like that anyway. So I added my blog under Bergen, Norway.
A least I can hope on more traffic, and if ti become a big hype, I can brag about being one of the first on it.

I also added a small link in to the right so that you can take a closer look at this service. Or you can just on the picture bellow.

Happy "blog on a map" hunting!

Popfly - mashup everything

I've just discovered a new cool service from MS. POPFLY

Basically its a program, service or what you want to call it..... that lets you combine different websites and API services eg. Flickr, twitter, Facebook, slideshows and so on...

I made this slideshow in 30 seconds using pictures tagged Bergen, Norway in Flickr, and a slideshow service.

I think this is very interesting to set into a school setting. And hopefully I'll get the chance to experiment more with it. One thing I see as a real limitation is the need to have users on different web pages like Facebook. Thats a challenge in a school setting.

Applications you can't live without

There is a lot of blog post on applications you/or I can't live without. So this post may be of no interest what so ever. But since I have an above average level of self esteem I walk out on a limb here.

Here are my top five applications* that I can't live without:

  1. Firefox - in my view the best browser. I especially like the option to add plug ins.
  2. Snagit - A picture can speak a thousand words, and with this small ( and brilliant) application from TechSmith you can take screen dumps of specific areas of the screen on the fly by just pressing print screen.
  3. NotePad - less is more.
  4. Photoshop CS3 - This is my time off application. Even thou I use Photoshop and other CS3 products in work related tasks, I often use time in the evenings to explore all the millions of possibilities.
  5. Live Messenger- need I say more?

*installed in my machine.
